Toshiba Laptop Volume Low

Here are some solutions on how to overcome the low volume in Windows 10. Solution 1: Restarting your PC and Updating Drivers One of the basic fixes is to restart your PC. If you installed an application, it is possible that it isn’t properly configured with your computer and requires a restart. My Toshiba's volume will randomly go up and down. It never blares and it never gets so quiet you can't hear it, but it distinctly goes up and down in volume every few minutes. Should I take it in? Will it be expensive to fix? I believe the tv cost about $350 a couple years ago. In addition to traditional laptops, Toshiba also sells “2-in-1” computers, which are touchscreen laptops that also work as tablets. These types of computers are typically more expensive, but if you want a machine that can play mobile apps and is powerful enough for work or school, a 2-in-1 laptop. Jul 18, 2020 Method 2: Disabling automatic volume adjustment via Communications tab. As it turns out, another possible culprit that might end up lowering your audio volume is a Windows feature that is designed to automatically adjust the volume when you are using the PC to place or receive telephone calls.

Toshiba Laptop Does Not Have Stereo Mix

Oct 4, 2015

I recently bought a new Toshiba touch screen Laptop, primarily for my recording studio and on-site recordings. It works well with my DAW Software (Sonar Platinum) and my recording hardware.
However, it does not have the Stereo Mix and from what I find there is no way to add it, as it apparently has been disabled in the hardware.

Drivers :: Camera On Toshiba S50-B Laptop Doesn't Work?

Dec 20, 2015

The camera on my Toshiba S50-B laptop worked fine when on the original Windows 8.1 but doesn't work now that I have upgraded to Windows 10. It says 'Something went wrong - make sure your camera is connected and not being used by another application'. I have tried everything I know of and find no reason. Is there another driver required or ...? I cannot even find the camera.

Toshiba Laptop Goes To Sleep And Doesn't Wake Up Without Forcing It Off

Aug 13, 2015

Computer Model/ Specs:
Toshiba Satellite L50D - B
Serial No. ZE257837C
Processor: AMD A6-6310 APU with AMD Radeon R4 Graphics 1.80 GHz
RAM: 8.00 GB (6.96 GB usable)
System Type: 64-bit Operating System(Windows 10), x64 based Processor
My laptop goes to sleep and never wakes up without having to force a restart. I have changed the settings so it will never sleep or turn off the display, but, it goes to sleep anyway
So, I don't know how to fix it, and I need to know how. I turn my back for 5 minutes, and all my unsaved work is lost cause I have to force a shutdown. The computer goes to sleep, I press the on button, the computer starts doing its usual hum, the number lock light turns on, and nothing else happens.

BSOD :: Blue Screen On Returning From Sleep Mode - Toshiba Laptop

Aug 30, 2015

I have a new Toshiba C55-C5241 Laptop, which came pre-loaded with Windows 10. (See Specs)
I clean installed Windows 10 last weekend. All went very well. I just started loading programs this weekend.
I started noticing the blue screen stops yesterday. These happen coming out of Sleep. I probably never would have noticed these before because I was not leaving the machine alone long enough for it to go into Sleep. So unfortunately I do not know when the behavior started - from the beginning or after some software installation.
Here are my reports: SCULLY-Sun_08_30_2015__64736_97.zip
Blue screens are mostly 'Kernal Data Inpage Error' and the more serious 'Critical Process Died', both I understand to be processor related.
I did not have the presence of mind to test or check any of this early on. But I do have images of the original factory installation and of the fresh, clean install (before any customization or software installs). I do not believe that I ever tried Sleep Mode on the original factory installation.
The stops happen very consistently when on battery power, less so when plugged in. For a while I thought they did not occur when plugged in - this was not the case. They seem to be more consistent when manually going into sleep, not so much when it goes into sleep from Power Settings.
All of the drivers in the clean install were the same as the drivers in the factory installation (at the time I finished). I did not turn off automatic driver update for a few days. I will check the driver list for changes later.
Software installed (in order) : Avast!, Firefox, Office 2010 (H&S), Nitro Reader, VLC (64 bit), Handy Address Book (a prog I've been using for years), Malwarebytes, CCleaner (never run), and Winamp. I am thinking of restoring the clean install image today (start over). Just to see if the behavior started then.

Performance :: System Running Slow After Changing Motherboard

Feb 23, 2016

I just switched to a new motherboard, its an ASRock H97M-ITX/ac. Before I turned off my pc with the old motherboard I uninstalled some devices like the IDE controllers, network adapters, and sound. Then I installed the new motherboard, turned on the pc and noticed right away it was very slow but after a few restarts and installing the new motherboard's drivers it was somewhat faster but I could tell that it still wasnt right. I ran a benchmark on my ssd and got what I think is a really bad result:
Sequential Read (Q= 32,T= 1) : 19.763 MB/s
Sequential Write (Q= 32,T= 1) : 12.059 MB/s
Random Read 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 6.253 MB/s [ 1526.6 IOPS]
Random Write 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 5.544 MB/s [ 1353.5 IOPS]
Sequential Read (T= 1) : 17.194 MB/s
Sequential Write (T= 1) : 11.953 MB/s
Random Read 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 2.197 MB/s [ 536.4 IOPS]
Random Write 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 3.296 MB/s [ 804.7 IOPS]
I'm pretty sure this is terrible for a SSD. So I guess I did something wrong. I'm prepared to reinstall Windows, but thought I'd check in here first because it would save some time if I could just fix my current Windows installation. Obviously a clean install would be best but the time involved in getting everything set up again!

Performance :: Running Abnormally Slow On Lenovo T420

Nov 12, 2015

I am running Windows 10 Pro for almost 2 months now on my Lenovo T420 laptop. It's been running great until a couple of weeks ago where it dived bigtime in performance. I suspected it was a new 3rd party battery (had been running great for a couple of weeks as well), which was the problem. The battery did indeed have a problem and without AC power, the laptop would at last not even start. I took the battery out completely and started the laptop on pure AC power and it worked great for another week. Now, I have the problem again.
Main symptoms:
- IO 4x less than usual
- Slow reaction on the entire system
- Applications open and perform very poor and slow
- Windows search never opens for example 'dxdiag', I have to run this through the 'Run' application.
It's running super slow, IO's is 4x of the normal (see attachments). Random IOps have dropped a lot while sequential read/writes is still the same... Task manager is nowhere near busy and I've tried to disable the page file completely. I do have Symantec AV but this is not affecting the performance at all. Tried to run DISM to check for index corruption, all fine. I also suspected the SATA controller (SSD is not bad since I have tested with another one as well, same result) and tried to update the driver, but to no avail.

Computer Running Extremely Slow After Windows Defender Download?

Dec 30, 2015

Windows 10 Home (1511)
64-BitOS
I've had Windows for a few months now and never really had an issue until the past few days. Overall CPU performance/speed is way down. Firefox freezes then recoops every 2-3 minutes, adobe plugin constantly crashing, even to do things offline is crazy slow.
I downloaded Windows Defender probably a week or 2 ago and that is the only big change that I know of done on this computer. I used to run Malewarebytes, SuperAnti-Spyware and Advanced Windows SystemCare. But was told that Advanced Windows SystemCare was the devil and to try TFC (temp file cleaner) & MyDefrag instead. So now i'm running;
Windows Defender
MalewareBytes (free)
SuperAnti-Spyware(free)
TFC
MyDefrag
Is this combination making my computer un usable? Or something else?

Netgear N750 / Internet Running Slow / Recover Webpage

Ever since I loaded Windows 10 my internet is running slow and I continuously receive either a 'recover webpage' message or 'stop script' message. I am on IE 11. I tried the new Microsoft Edge but it seemed to run slower than IE. Does any kind of update need to be done to my wireless router. It is a Netgear N750 model #WNDR4300.

Browser/Email :: Mozilla 41.0.1 Running Slow - Lots Of Disk Activity

Oct 13, 2015

After launching Mozilla hard disk activity seems to be permanently on, as if Mozilla where reindexing or something. It takes a long time (10-20 minutes) to stop and it makes browsing a very jerking experience. Of course I did a clean install to rule out some corrupted installation but no dice.
Launching Resource Monitor shows that all disk activity is being done by Mozilla FF and Windows Defender (Firefox being the first candidate).

Laptop Slow Boot / File Explorer Stalling

Feb 24, 2016

I have a Lenovo Y50-70 laptop. It's about a year old. Spec wise it is an i7-4710HQ, 12GB RAM, GTX860M dedicated GPU and I believe it has a 1TB 5400RPM Western Digital SSHD.
I've found that the boot time is slow. I can compare this to another Lenovo laptop I own, which is a Z580 (i5-3230m CPU, 8GB RAM, standard 1TB mechanical drive (unknown manufacturer)) which boots much faster. The last time I timed it, the Y50 took more than 90 seconds to reach the Windows desktop (set to autologin via changes to netplwiz) and the Z580 takes about 30 seconds. Furthermore, the Z580 is quicker to achieve a 'usable' state (ie. loading FireFox or something).
Both laptops came with Windows 8 (8 on the Z580, 8.1 on the Y50) and were upgraded to Windows 10. Both laptops were also upgraded from clean installations of Windows (to remove Lenovo's famed bloatware).
But more annoyingly than the boot time is the usability. On the Y50, if I right click a folder or file in File Explorer, it pretty much hangs File Explorer (loading circle icon for several minutes and a 'Not Responding' note). Eventually that'll stop and it will have done nothing.
Sometimes, if I then do it again it will actually allow me to right click and bring up the menu.
I have also found that any icon heavy folders, such as pictures or videos, cause File Explorer to have a complete meltdown and become sluggish to the point that the window needs to be closed.
I use StartisBack on both machines, and the Y50 does not display any icons on the 'More' section of the Start Menu. It also cannot find anything if you search for it. The Z580 has no such problem.
The Y50 has been scanned with both Avast Premier and MalwareBytes Anti-Malware Premium. It does not appear to be infected.
I did perform a clean installation a few months ago (back when it was on Windows 8.1) - I cannot recall the exact reason, unfortunately. It wasn't the same issue I'm having now, but it was another usability problem that made me opt to do a clean install.
I am leaning towards doing yet another clean install, but I am also wondering if this could possibly be an indication that the drive has bad sectors or something and data keeps getting corrupted? Alas, as I say, I cannot now recall what prompted me to do the last clean install.

Performance :: Slow Boot Time On SSD And Slow Desktop Icons Loading

Aug 6, 2015

I'm using an Intel SSD 240GB 520 series. Always loading very fast, i.e., about 8 seconds from cold boot.
Since windows 10 is installed, boot time is about 20 seconds and desktop icons take some time to refresh and load their images.
Regarding the boot time: I've narrowed it down the an unexplained read/write access on my external HDD eSATA which is used for backups, though currently all backup process are stopped.
When I remove / turn off my external HDD, boot time is about 8 seconds. I can't figure out why all of a sudden it required this access to this HDD.
As for the slow icon refresh.. how to fix this.

Toshiba Satellite M645 / UEFI Settings Not Available

Dec 21, 2015

I have a Toshiba Satellite m645 with Windows 10. I'm seriously trying everything just to access the UEFI/BIOS settings on this computer. I know that you have to go to Update & Security and reboot through the advanced settings. Then you click troubleshoot and in that menu should hold a uefi settings option but my computer just doesn't and I'm not able to press esc/f2 on startup to access bios either because that simply doesn't work. Why don't I have a uefi settings option?

Using USB Toshiba Recovery Media With Lost Driver

Dec 30, 2015

I obtained usb system recovery from Toshiba but when I attempt to recover, the Atheros Wireless Lan Driver wont and I am stuck. Is there anyway that I can reinstall the driver and finish recovering my pc? I have download the driver onto my usb.

Drivers :: Toshiba Satelite Pro Touchpad Not Working After Upgrade

Aug 14, 2015

Had a customer present their laptop for repair following Windows 10 upgrade, so wanted to post the solution here.
The device, a Toshiba Satelite Pro Touchpad had an issue where it appeared to hang on startup following upgrade to Windows 10. Investigation revealed that the issue was actually the Touchpad was becoming disabled due to a problem with the ELAN driver that Windows 10 had installed. I wound the driver back and everything was fine, then Windows 10 decided it had a better version of the driver and installed the bad one again. Solution was to wind back the driver again from 15.8.x.x to 13.8.x.x and disable automatic update of drivers to stop it being replaced again.
Clearly it is not ideal to disable the driver update capability, however if there are not sufficient checks and balances to ensure that the right driver is being installed it is going to create more problems that it is worth.
Microsoft Suggestion: It may be an idea to allow disabling driver update for individual driver basis.

Toshiba C55D-A5382 / Start Menu And Task Bar Not Working?

Toshiba Laptop Volume Low Mac

Aug 2, 2015

Toshiba Laptop Volume Low Pressure

I just recently(July 30th) installed Win 10 on my Toshiba C55D-A5382 laptop, that originally came with Win 8.1(purchased summer of 2014). After the full install of Win 10 - that took 35 minutes to do(using Brighthouse Lighting 150Mbps connection), Win 10 flashed up saying - install was a success. After it restarted and I signed in(newer start pages look great to me), I placed the cursor on the 'Start Button' to have a look see at all the new stuff to be seen(but to no avail). 'Start Button' does not work at all nor does the bottom task bar line either, and my laptop has been on for 3 straight days now(getting worried about over heating issues). When I had Win 8.1 OS on this laptop, it use to go to sleep on it's own - but not now. I have waited patiently for 'Windows Support' .... Using both 'Live Chat' as I waited for over 74 minutes, and over the 'Phone Support' as I waited for over an hour - both to no avail. Is there anyway to kick start the 'Start Menu' again? Can I go back and re-install Win 8.1 on to it and then re-install Win 10 on it again?
